This year has been a bit of a wild year for us; if someone told me at the beginning of this year even that all this was going to be happening, I think I would have just straight-up laughed! It's been a little silent on the blog, so just thought I'd do a little catch up with what's been happening this spring/summer, starting with our biggest piece: we moved across the country (!), saying our farewells to some sweet friends and a special community, and the city where this little calligraphy business was born, and where we learned to be married.
The last few weeks in Montreal were so good and sweet - I got to do a few more workshops, including one with my friend Samantha, The Wellness Stylist, and a few last ones with Boucle et Papier, who have really been such a huge support to me. I will not be shy to sing the praises of the wonderful ladies behind B&P, especially Jessyca, the owner, who encouraged me to make anything and everything, and who I was always so, so inspired by. Ultimate girl boss, right there.
Even now, when we talk about our time in Montreal, we are just so incredibly grateful for our time spent there. What a sweet way to spend the first few years of marriage, to start a new art form, to grow a business. When people ask me what I miss about Montreal, other than the people, I always say that I miss the grungy, DIY-scene of Montreal, where everyone and anyone is an artist or an entrepreneur, and people aren't afraid to try new things. Things aren't polished or perfect, but I think that's what I like about the city - the rawness, the daring to do, the courage to try and to make.
